Bishop Stopford Sixth Form is about so much more than just lessons: you have many other opportunities to develop your abilities. You are able to continue your current interests, and there are openings in the wider school community in ways you might not have even considered. Year 12 students are also encouraged to research and organise a work experience placement related to their chosen career path.

There are opportunities provided to keep the balance between academic and social learning.  A wide range of societies are run by sixth formers, where you can take part in informative and high-quality presentations and discussions. These include MedSoc, Debating, Film, Law, and Maths and Physics Societies. Of course, activities change year on year, because Bishop Stopford Sixth Form students are innovators.

There is also the opportunity to apply to take part in the EPQ (Extended Project Qualification). The EPQ involves you to select a narrow form and investigate it thoroughly. It requires independence at a sophisticated level and is different from other courses as it starts during Year 12 and is completed by January in Year 13. You will develop research and presentation skills and is a great opportunity to prepare for undergraduate study.

You can also develop your profile by taking on a leadership role. You can take on responsibility across the school in a particular area. For example, sports - helping at clubs and practices, reading partner - working with younger students to improve their literacy, and as a mentor - support a younger students or a peer in a specific subject. More recently we have also had sixth form students as well-being mentors to help younger students.
