Art

Please find below the course outline for those interested in continuing art beyond GCSE. It will give you an overview of what is expected on the course in Yr12/13

Suggested tasks to complete

  • As always drawing is the key to a successful art project and we would recommend you continuing to practise drawing from direct observation where possible, a subject matter that interests you. Try to explore the subject in a number of different ways. Look at different angles, compositions and scale. Zoom in closely to the details and if possible use a variety of media.
  • Now is a good time to use the resources you have at home, be experimental. Consider using recycled or found materials to create a piece. Brush up on your ICT skills and try a computer generated piece.
  • Once you have explored a few ideas for a possible theme in drawing, it is always a good idea to find an artist that will help inspire you. Research and present information about 3 artists who you would like to explore further. This  can be completed as a power point or word document. Try to include the 5 W's-

Who- artists name/group they belonged to

When-born/died/working

Where-born/died/working

What-style did they use/create

Why-were there any social/historical/geographical reasons for their  art work

and most importantly always include some personal opinions, what do you like about their work/ideas, how could you use it in any future work?

  • There are also lots of online resources to help you become inspired. Many of the galleries have virtual tours and ideas to get you thinking about a possible subject matter. See examples below
