Welcome to the RE page! We look forward to meeting you in September!
Below, are a number of different challenges you could have a go at over the summer holidays, to really get you thinking about the world around us! We would love to see anything you write/create so keep them safe to bring in OR email a copy cmoloney@bishopstopford.com.
Here is how a few of our current Year 7s described RE at Bishop:
If you want to challenge yourself during the Summer holidays, why not try our Stained Glass Window Introductory Lesson?
The RE Team
Miss Moloney - Head of RE
I love teaching RE because it opens our eyes to different cultures, traditions and ways of life. We are all unique and each have our own ways of thinking and acting. I like to explore and celebrate these differences! RE gives us the opportunity to understand the society we live in today, to contribute to debates about key issues and to make our own judgments about what is right and wrong!
Fun Fact: I took a selfie with Sir Ian McKellen (Magneto/Gandalf)
Mrs Taylor-Smith - Teacher of RE and Ethics
Why do I love teaching RE? I love teaching the subject because it helps us understand different faiths and embrace the fact that we live in a multi-cultural society. In RE, I want you to discuss and debate, to explore and discover, and to learn more about the world in which we live. RE offers a chance for us to tackle big questions and learn more about ourselves and each other.
Fun Fact: I have had a helicopter ride over Niagara Falls
Mr Smart - Teacher of RE and Ethics
RE was my favourite subject at school and I love teaching it now because it gets us thinking about some of the biggest questions in life. The great thinker Socrates said "The unexamined life is not worth living". I think that he meant that it is an important part of being human to question things and look for meaning in our lives, RE draws from a huge variety of different religious beliefs and values to help us do this.
Fun Fact: I love biking, my favourite is mountain biking but I also enjoy road riding too.
