BSS Peripatetic Lessons

Your BSS Musical Journey Begins

Bishop Stopford School are pleased to be able to offer music lessons with visiting teachers in the following instruments:

Acoustic Guitar / Bass Guitar / Electric Guitar

Brass

Cello / Double Bass

Percussion

Piano / Keyboard

Violin / Viola

Voice

Woodwind – Bassoon / Clarinet / Flute / Oboe / Saxophone

  • Places are allocated on a 'first come first served basis' once completed applications are received.
  • Most of our instrumental teachers are coordinated by the County Music Service.
  • All lessons are one-to-one.
  • Tuition is mainly arranged on a rota basis.
  • Timetables and instructions to students are regularly placed on the notice board in the practice rooms corridor.
  • Please note that students will not be collected from their lesson by their music teacher as in Primary School.  Students are responsible for excusing themselves from academic lessons, seeking permission from their teacher at the beginning of the lesson

Enrichment and Extracurricular Ensembles

Bishop Stopford School boasts a wide range of enrichment and extracurricular ensembles to support music students. If students receive instrumental tuition through the school, there is an expectation that they will participate in at least one ensemble. So many benefits not only a chance to be part of an ensemble, meet some new friends you could also take part in our School Concerts and Carol Service. The BSS Brass Band also take part in Music for Youth Festival and National Festival of Music.
