Year 12

Paper 1: Love Through the Ages (40% of final mark)

1.Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’

2.Unseen poetry comparison

3.Comparison between one prose text, ‘Atonement’ and the pre-1900 poetry anthology

Paper 2: Texts in shared contexts WW1 (40% of the final mark)

1.WW1 Poetry study: ‘Up to the Line of Death’

2.WW1 unseen prose study

3.Introduction to the NEA unit and prose study

Year 13

• Unit 3 (20%) NEA: an Independent critical study: texts across time – a comparison between two texts: one pre-1900 novel.

• Revision of the Paper 1 set texts from Year 12.

• Focus on unseen poetry comparison Paper 1 and unseen WW1 prose Paper 2.

• Study of WW1 play ‘My Boy Jack’.

• Revision of Paper 1 and Paper 2 set texts.

Examinations

All A-level exams are at the end of Year 13:

  • 1. Love Through the ages: 3 hours exam.
  • 2. WW1: 2hours and 30 minutes exam
  • 3. Coursework: 2500 word essay
