There isn’t one single website that perfectly compares every aspect of all UK medical and dental schools. However, several resources offer valuable comparative information:
The Medic Portal:
- This website provides a "Medical School Comparison Tool" that allows you to compare various medical schools side-by-side. It covers essential factors like entry requirements, admissions tests (UCAT/BMAT), interview styles, and graduate entry programs. This is a very useful tool.
- They also provide guides and information regarding dental schools.
- Here are links to those tools.

University Guides:
- Publications like "The Complete University Guide" and "The Guardian University Guide" offer rankings and data that can help you compare universities, including those with medical and dental programs: https://www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/league-tables/rankings
Bishop Stopford Resources:
- These are currently all on Firefly but will be moved to SharePoint next year: https://bishopstopford.fireflycloud.net/sixth-form/medicine-dentistry-and-veterinary
Key Considerations When Comparing:
- Entry Requirements: Pay close attention to the specific grades and admissions tests required by each school.
- Course Structure: Medical and dental programs can vary in their teaching styles and clinical placements. There are several teaching styles, so make sure you choose a university that suits your way of learning - such as • Traditional Lectures • Problem-Based Learning (PBL) • Case-Based Learning • Enquiry-Based Learning
- Location and Facilities: Consider the location of the university and the quality of its facilities.
- Research Opportunities: If you're interested in research, look for universities with strong research programs.
- Graduate Outcomes: Explore the university's data on graduate employment rates.
By using these resources and considering these factors, you can make an informed decision about which medical or dental school is right for you.
