Welcome to Foundation Learning

What is Foundation Learning?

Starting a new school can be daunting. This programme is designed to help you to develop some of the ICT skills. Foundation Learning also includes 'Bedrock' which is an online system to help you improve your vocabulary.

How is it organised?

The programme is into two sections:

• ICT Skills

From getting to grips with the school’s Virtual Learning Environment (Firefly), using the school’s email system to creating PowerPoint presentations and Spreadsheets. The programme will help you to become familiar with the ICT systems used by the school. Typing is just one of the skills you'll improve during Foundation Learning lessons - to try typing club click here.

• Bedrock

Bedrock Vocabulary is a digital system that teaches you essential new words. All the new language is embedded in original stories and non-fiction texts so you are regularly reading high-quality texts as well! To find out more about Bedrock - watch the short video below:
